The idea that inspired this groom style shoot at Buxted Park Hotel, part of the luxury boutique chain of Handpicked Hotels, was an overwhelming desire to explore a side of the wedding industry that is often underrepresented.
So often we see grooms in the backgrounds of bridal photos; a masculine piece of adornment added to the frame, almost like a prop. Earlier this Spring, my husband popped the question:
“why don’t you ever feature men in your bridal photo shoots?”
I pursed my lips together, and my brain quickly scrambled for a slew of answers that I thought would adequately address his enquiry. Instead of answering with completely justifiable answers, I simply said “Why don’t we plan one?”
I mean, he was absolutely right!
I rarely ever featured men in any of the photo shoots I did over the years. I too had fallen prey to using men as props. In fact, I slowly realised that the trend in my imagery is to showcase women’s beauty and strength using my own artistic voice (which I will always continue to do). However, why not try something a bit different?
Popping bottles at Buxted Park Hotel
This is our ode to groom style! My husband was a massive help. He asked some of his handsome friends to participate, and had the brilliant idea to hire a vintage car. I sourced the venue, and the essential team of vendors, so it became a lovely collaborative project between the two of us.
I had an incredible time hanging with these guys! I think we can all agree that one of our favourite moments was popping the Prosecco bottle open towards the end of the day! They were an absolute blast to shoot, and check out how great they look!
